We had a rainbow and a shower before riding from the Coffee Break café. Then blue sky eastwards to Edmonton, Chingford and Woodford Epping Road, past the motorbike café. To Upshire and the narrow boat cafe at 12.00. Back to Enfield aproximately 2pm on a mild winters day. Leader Les, riders Pat, Paul, Bridget, Steve, Jeff, Geoff, Chris, Sarah, Jayne, Bill, backstop Maz.
A mild winter's ride from Coffee Break café. Past Firs Farm wetlands east to Lea Valley then onto quiet neighbourhood (and traffic calmed) back roads through Walthamstow to God's Own Junkyard, a weird and wonderful display of vintage neon signs and objets d'art. Lunch there (well, sort of. The kitchen was not yet open so we subsisted on cake!), then return leg via Lloyd Park past the William Morris museum to Edmonton Green about 2.15pm. Leader Paul, Riders Jeff, Stephen, Geoff, Bridget, Colin, Peter, Pat, Maz, Backstop Les,
The originally planned ride had to be postponed, so we met at the Coffee Break café (again), for an impromptu ride. We set off firstly to Myddelton House Enfield, to view snowdrops and Japanese knotweed in the garden. Then by a a zigzag route, including Cedar's Park, to the Cheshunt golf café for lunch around 12:30. Back to Enfield on the cycle path alongside the A10. Riders Bill, Bridget, Geoff, Jeff, Pat, Paul, Peter.
At last a sunny start from Edmonton Leisure Centre. We headed East to Lee Valley and headed to Walthamstow wetlands. Diverting at Lea Bridge Road due to a flooded underpass which then took us to Victoria Park. We made a short visit to the food market before lunch at The Hub Cafe. After lunch we took a similar route back to Edmonton Leisure Centre arriving back at 2.15pm. The sun shone all the way! Leader Paul Riders Bridget, Bill, Geoff, Jayne, Peter, Sarah, Keung as backstop
A bright start from Whitwebbs Cafe at 09:45am. We headed towards Cuffley, Brookmans Park, Colney Heath, Smallford with lunch at the Heartwood Cafe at Sandridge at 11:35am. Return ride started at 12:35 with trip via St. Albans past the Farmers Market. Rain set in near Shenley returning to Barnet past Lewis Ices Farm. We split up by Cockfosters Rd. Some people returned home around 2:30pm. Leader Jeff Riders Paul, Geoff, Maz, Les as backstop. Bridget and Pat came for some of the ride
Following a straw poll we decided on the hilly route and rode west from the Coffee Break cafe passing Broadwalk, New Southgate, on to Finchley and Hendon by an urban route. Here we sampled the savoury bagels and cakes at 12.00, and some even bought more to take home. We took a different route back to Winchmore Hill, where some of us adjourned to the Little Green Dragon for an afternoon drink. We did not know at the time this would be the last club ride for possibly several months as we, along with the rest of the country, have suspended our activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.Leader Les, riders Paul L, Bridget, Colin, Pat, Stephen, Leon, Chris, Geoff, Julian, Peter, backstops Maz, Jeff.
CORONOVIRUS restrictions meant that all organised club rides were suspended for the rest of the year.
At times when up to six riders were permitted, various ad-hoc rides took place. These were arranged at short notice through the WhatsApp account and are not reported here. (But if anyone wants to add a report we would be happy to post it!)
