Bike Week 1999
Kicked off with cuddly Dr Bike dispensing advice, wisdom,
GT85 with his usual mix of good humour and brutal condemnation of horrible
bikes. Despite this, many new recruits were found!
The sun came out for the family ride up the Lee towpath on Sunday and the night
owls for Tuesday's Ice Cream Ride to Marine Ices, Camden.
Thursday saw a gentle a gentle Tour de Enfield Nord. Back to Crown &
Horseshoes. The grand finale was the North London Triangle Ride with
Barnet & Harringey LCC. About 50 rode between Ally Pally, Copthall
Stadium and Forty Hall in warm sunshine.

Dr Bike and Round Enfield Borough Ride
A good Dr Bike on Saturday
at Edmonton Leisure Centre. Then the annual Round then Borough
ride with 24 riders calling at Capel Manor, Grovelands, Millfield House
Arts Fair. As usual, a great day out for regulars, new members and
public. |
18.7.99 Ride to see the Dome!
An excellent ride led by Ian South with an intrepid ten
following South (sorry!) towards the infamous dome. Down the towpath to
Victoria Park, then on the LCN down to the Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf &
Limehouse. Lunch with a great view , scorching sun at the Barley Mow.
On to St Katherine's Dock, Regents Canal towpath, to the Lee at Victoria Park.
A great ride -a great day.

12.9.99 Epping Forest - Off-road
9 riders set off in sunny weather NE up Kings Head Hill. Stopping for a
cuppa by Queen Elizabeth's hunting lodge. Then off-road tracks through
Epping Forest over woody paths, over fallen logs. Past the motorbikers
cafe, on along smooth dry dusty paths; rollercoasting north eastwards to Ivy
Chimneys and lunch outside the Forest Gate pub. More rollercoasting after
lunch on some rougher ground and back home to Edmonton later afternoon.

Towpath Ride to Victoria Park
More bright autumnal weather as
we went South on the Lee towpath on the Lee towpath, stopping for tea at
Springfield Marina cafe. Past Hackney Marshes, turning West along
the Hertford Union Canal to Victoria Park. Into the Western part
along the Inner Road, past the Monster Fountain and after a circular
"tour de park" off to lunch in the Prince of Wales.

14.11.99 - Pymmes Brook Ride
From Edmonton in dull drizzle past Broomfield Park to
Arnos Park. The following Pymmes brook along the leafy autumnal waterfall
walk. Into Oakhill Park for tea, then off again through East Barnet to
Victoria recreation park. We then went through the woods past Jakes Lake
to Cockfosters and a warming lunch at the Trent Tavern. Alan,

4.12.99 - Christmas Social
We met at the Moon-under-Water for drinks and chat.
Then we adjourned to La Caverna, Italian Restaurant. A wide
range of dishes were sampled and good wine drunk. Dave in great vocal
form. Enjoyable time had by all. Cheers! Stephen, Dave,
