Day Rides

We run at least one ride a month, generally more in the summer and fewer in the winter. Most of our rides take place on Sundays and last all day (usually returning to Enfield between 4.00 and 6.00pm). Occasionally we run shorter, morning only, rides, and during the summer we sometimes run shorter rides on weekday evenings.

Our day rides are at a leisurely pace, and usually cover anything between 20 and 50 miles. Generally we ride on quieter roads, country lanes or off road paths. We often set off around 9:30 or 10am, sometimes have a mid morning tea stop then our main lunch stop at a pub around 1pm, getting home between 4 and 6pm. Rides tend to be shorter in winter, and may be longer (or have more extended stops) in summer. Sometimes we use the train to venture further afield. For example, in the past we have run rides to Epping Forest (with tea and cakes at High Beach church!), Richmond Park (train assisted to Liverpool Street), Hampstead Garden Suburb and along the Lea Valley towpath. The diary will usually give details of the length and pace of each ride.

Older children, who can cope with a full day's cycling and who have some traffic experience, are welcome on our rides. Some of our shorter and quieter rides may be suitable for younger children. Again, check the diary for details. In all cases, children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

We are always on the lookout for ideas for new rides, so if you have any suggestions then don't be shy - put them forwards either informally on a ride or at one of our planning meetngs.
